Earlier in March, I had the opportunity to catch up with one of the marketing consultants with Rendall & Rittner and informed them about our recent events and about the Woodberry Down Community Organisation. I then had the opportunity to have a meeting with the Community and Engagement Manager earlier this month and I discussed some of the community events being organised by Berkley Homes and its partners.
I am conscious that the majority of events being organised in the development are being geared towards those with children, rather than representing the growing majority of early professionals who live in the area.
The Community and Engagement Manager explained that the service charges do not cover entertainment, and so any community engagement events would have to be self-funded through ticketing or sponsorships. The latter part financed the Christmas social. However, there are areas for R&R to help facilitate.
Nonetheless, I would love some feedback on the following six events that could be organised with minimal work and are low cost:
- Wine Tasting Evening (February and September)

I have connections with wine merchants and judges and some would be interested in hosting a free, or for a nominal fee, wine tasting session in the hope to access more customers.

Meet The New Residents (March and October)

It seems that many of us have many residents coming and going. Often, we might just be polite about it while waiting in the lifts.

Summer Garden Party (June)

This would be suitable for all age groups (family friendly). Not a BBQ due to fire safety, but something that would be nice for everyone to attend.
A croquet set for £50 would be a nice addition to Hartington Court’s quad.

- Christmas Party (December)
- Exactly set up to last year including more residents.
I hope that if there is enough interest in these events, I can pin down a date in the calendar for all residents to have enough notice to attend.
I would love to see residents under the Park Collection banner to take part, from shared ownership homes to private tenants take part in these events. Share your thoughts!
