Park Collection Planning and Development Forum

Park Collection Planning , Development and WDCO Forum

The reason for asking is that a large block of very conveniently placed indoor space is currently available and waiting to be let by Hackney Council for community benefit.

It is the ground floor space at the lake end of Hartington's right beside the Spring Park playground. Berkeley are current landscaping the area leading down to the Children's Centre to create another amphitheatre.

This looks like a first class opportunity to address the shops, workshops, offices and community facilities question, but it is not at all clear what is about to happen.

Your opinion on this would be invaluable, and we (The Park Collection Residents' Association) would like to know your views. We can then understand the position PARKRA should take when in discussions with the other interested parties, and report back to you the decision that emerges.

The space we refer to is labelled 1 in this enhanced photo.

Some of the ideas that are emerging include:

  • Zer is a bit out of the way where it is. Relocated to this building it would be a very pleasant place to take afternoon tea, and could also support a community notice board.
  • Woodberry Blooms is currently on a busy through road with no outside space. It is a community enterprise run by the Manor House Development Trust, and could thrive in a more benign location.
  • The Manor House Development Trust provides community services (It set up and rins the Redmond Centre) and could well make a core tenant for the whole space

  • I'd love to have Waitrose, M&S, Boots, or local cafes/ restaurants (offering different cuisines) here - these could also replace the current space occupied by ZER and Woodberry Blooms if they were to relocate to the new space as suggested
