What events should we be holding?

Resident-led, community-building events coming soon. Let us have your ideas.

R&R have, within their existing management fee, a budget to spend on community building events. This budget is not yet being spent (partly due to the Pandemic). What community building events would you like to see for Park Collection residents? And when would you like them to be run? We have been thinking of proposing a spring and a summer 'party' of some kind. Please let us have your ideas. It's up to us all to make these events successful.

Dear Adrian,
A public meeting about Haringey’s Major Events in Finsbury Park

THE Trustees of the Friends of Finsbury Park would like to invite you to a community meeting to discuss Haringey Council's Major Events Policy in Finsbury Park and it’s affect on our park, the area and residents. We will hold it on ~

Tuesday, 1st November at 7 pm
Muslim Welfare House

We say that commercial events of up to 50,000 ticket-holders conflict with a fair and reasonable use of our public park; with protecting its ecology and our environment, and are inconsistent with our remit. The mission of our Trust, as recorded in our Constitution registered with the Charity Commission is ~

To promote the conservation, protection and improvement of Finsbury Park, London for the benefit of those persons living near to or using the park.

We have not supported and cannot support the council's policy. We would like to set out our reasons as to why to the community, but will also give space to all views on the subject with a question-and-answers session.

WIRELESS 2022 steel wall comes up against the Richard Hope Space. Some 200 whips (young saplings) planted just outside the play space were torn out by order of Parks Officers, who later denied that the destruction of the volunteer's effort was related to a major event.

Q&A session ~

We will have guest speakers and also Haringey councillors who will be invited to answer questions about the policy. We envisage the meeting will end at 8:30 PM.

Please join us to share your views. If you can't make it then, please feel free to share this newsletter!

Best wishes,

Tom Graham and Clive Carter
